History of the Police Department

The Hitchcock Police Department was founded in 1960 when the City of Hitchcock was incorporated. At the time of incorporation, there was a police auxilary force to assist the regular police employed by the City. Currently Hitchcock's “Thin Blue Line” consists of 16 employees, of which one officer is a warrant officer and two officers are furnished to the Hitchcock Independent School District.

Hitchcock is a member community of Mainland Communities Crime Stoppers. If you have information on a crime, or person involved in a crime, or any other persons that you know or suspect are fugitives from the law, please contact the Mainland Communities Crime Stoppers' hotline at:

All tips will be both anonymous and confidential. When you call, please provide the name of the absconder, fugitive or unsolved case you are contacting Crime Stoppers about. An address, vehicle description, employer or frequent hang-out will be helpful as well as known associates, friends, relatives and their addresses.


Mainland Communities Crime Stoppers holds a monthly Crime Stopper meeting at 6:30 PM on the second Tuesday of each month at the Texas City Police Department, located at the Rankin L.
